Open Access and Publishing Resources: OhioLINK Open Access Agreement Information

OhioLink

OhioLINK logo

OhioLINK has negotiated five read-and-publish agreements for its institutions’ authors. These publishing agreements allow authors to publish open access at no cost to the authors or additional cost to their institutions. They also provide access to a broad range of high-quality research articles from these publishers.

These agreements have some limitations, including:

  • The Open Access Publishing benefit has a fixed usage limit, and these options may not be available once reached.
  • Some journals are excluded
  • Specific requirements for each agreement

Information for each agreement is listed below, with links for more details on the OhioLINK website.

Cambridge Journals

OhioLINK's agreement with Cambridge University Press provides APC-free open-access publishing in over 400 hybrid and fully open-access journals in various subjects, including social sciences and humanities.

The article to be published must be accepted for publication after January 1, 2022, and on or before December 31, 2024.

While many article types are eligible, there are restrictions, including Book Reviews, Book Chapters, and Editorials, among others.  A full list of eligible article types and how to apply for funding can be found on the OhioLINK page for the Cambridge Journals agreement.

Elsevier Hybrid Journal Agreement

OhioLINK's agreement with Elsevier covers most of its hybrid journals. There are limitations to the agreement, including journals that are not included in the agreement, such as Cell Press and Lancet journals.  A full list of covered journals can be found here - Journal Finder for the OhioLINK agreement.

The agreement runs from January 1, 2024, and ends on December 31, 2027. The journal article must have been accepted during this period, and there is a limited number of articles that all OhioLINK members can publish during the calendar year.

Elsevier also has an information page  - Agreement between OhioLINK and Elsevier.
