Open Access Publishing Resources: OhioLINK Open Access Agreement Information

OhioLINK Read and Publish Agreements

OhioLINK Logo

OhioLINK has negotiated five read and publish agreements for its institutions' authors. These publishing agreements enable authors to publish open access by covering Article Processing Charges for the authors. The agreements also provide access to a broad range of research article literature from these publishers. The agreements with each publisher are summarized below.

Please note at the time of submission of your manuscript for peer review, that typically the submitting and corresponding author's institution will determine eligibility for the APC coverage through OhioLINK. It is best that the submitting and corresponding author use their Miami University email address and contact information at the time of submission.

Further information on the process and provisions of each deal can be found on the OhioLINK Open Access for authors agreements page.

Note these read and publish agreements have several important limitations, including:

  • For some publishers the APC coverage benefit has fixed annual usage limits, and the options will not be available once these limits are reached.  FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2024, AS OF NOVEMBER WE HAVE REACHED OUR LIMIT FOR ELSEVIER AND ARE NEARING OUR LIMIT FOR WILEY.
  • The offers are available to current and emeritus Miami faculty, staff, and students. The submitting and corresponding author should use their miamioh.edu email and contact information when submitting.
  • Some imprints and journals are excluded, including for some publishers their so-called "Gold OA" titles (non-subscription OA titles not included in OhioLINK's subscription agreements).
  • Each publisher agreement has specific provisions and requirements -- please see further details linked below for the specific publishers of interest.

While many article types are eligible, there are restrictions, including Book Reviews, Book Chapters, and Editorials, among others.  A full list of eligible article types and how to apply for funding can be found on the OhioLINK page for the Cambridge Journals agreement. Cambridge additionally has a page on the deal.
